Admission Criteria

Admission criteria, In-take capacity etc. shall be governed according to the guidelines issued by the Government of West Bengal and Vidyasagar University as applicable time to time. Proposed basic admission criteria applicable only for UG Admission for session 2023-24 with respect to introduction of CCFUP are as follows:

1. Candidate passing Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) conducted by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or any other equivalent board/council are eligible for admission in the undergraduate programmes with Single Major and Multidisciplinary Studies under CCFUP within 3 (Three) consecutive academic sessions from the date of passing the qualifying examination.

2. Candidate passing Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) from Vocational stream conducted by the respective Board/ Council for vocational studies or any other equivalent board/council are eligible for admission in the undergraduate programmes in Multidisciplinary Studies only within 3 (Three) consecutive academic sessions from the date of passing the qualifying examination.

3. Candidate must have passed in 5 (Five) recognized subjects (excluding Environmental Studies) including at least one language subject in the qualifying examination.

4. Students who have passed Higher Secondary or equivalent examination with minimum 45% marks in the Aggregate (to be calculated by adding the marks obtained in ‘Best Five’ subjects excluding Environmental Studies) along with pass in the subject/related subject or 50% marks in the subject or related subject are eligible to apply for admission in the Single Major (Honours/Honours with Research) programmes.

5. Students carrying pass marks in Higher Secondary or equivalent examination with at least pass in five subjects (excluding Environmental Studies) are eligible to apply for Multidisciplinary programmes under CCFUP. Students from Vocational stream are eligible to apply for Multidisciplinary Studies only fulfilling the other criteria.

 

Other Important Information:

  1. Any candidate seeking admission to a Programme in laboratory based subjects must have obtained pass marks in those subjects / relevant subjects at the Higher Secondary level.
  2. In addition to the above any candidate seeking admission to Single major programme [B.Sc.(H/H&R) MAJOR] in Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics must have passed in Mathematics in  Higher Secondary or equivalent examination.
  3. Any candidate seeking admission to Single major programme [(H/H&R) MAJOR]in Anthropology, Economics,  Sociology or Statistics and not having these subjects at H.S. or equivalent level, must have any one of the following relevant subjects in Higher Secondary or equivalent course:

 

Anthropology

Biology/ English

Economics

Mathematics

Sociology

Political Science / History / Psychology

Statistics

Mathematics

 

      iv. Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination in 2021 and 2022 may also apply.

      v. Candidates who have passed 10+2 level examinations from West Bengal Council of Vocational Education and Training Board or Open School are eligible to apply for only Multidisciplinary programmes under CCFUP.

     vi. The candidates who will opt for Physical Education as a general subject will have to pass a qualifying examination after commencement of class. If they fail to qualify the test they are to opt    for other subject.

 

N.B.: Admission into any programme under this College is not complete unless and until a candidate is registered under the Vidyasagar University through this College. Any suppression of facts, false statements, if revealed in future will lead to the cancelation of admission.
